Kansas Golfing
In Kansas there are many municipal golf courses and semi-private golf clubs.
The Prairie Dunes Country Club was the scene of the US Senior open in July 2006. It was the first time the national championship game was played in Kansas. The golf club was built in the 1930s using horse and mule teams.
There are many public golf courses throught Kansas most notably is the Colbert Hill golf course. It is located in Manhattan and is about 7500 yards. Buffalo Dunes in Garden City has been rated by Golf Digest magazine as one of the top municipal golf courses in the US. Near Juction City, you can play golf on about 160 acres near Milfored Lake at Rolling Meadows Golf Course. Each golf course has a variety of amenities and challenging courses.
Wichita has 5 18 hole public championship golf courses. Tee off at Auburn Hills, Arthur B. Sim,L.W. Clapp, MacDonald or Tex Consolver golf course. Private golf courses includ the Crestview Contry club with its two 18 hole Robert Trent Jones golf courses, the Tallgrass Country Club with its 18 hole championship golf course and the Terradyne Country club with great Scottish links.
Kansas Golf Courses are located in Abilene, Bonner Springs, Chapman, Clearwater, Coldwater, Dodge City, El Dorado, Fort Riley, Fredonia, Garden City, Garnett, Fort Hays, Hiawatha, Hillsboro, Iola, Independence, Junction City, Lawrence, Manhattan and other cities and towns.
